Feb 2011 Ham Hydro Update. Chas Warlow of Ham Hydro came to talk to us about the proposed hydroelectricity project at Teddington Weir in September. The Ham Hydro weblog records that this involved “a few awkward questions”: par for the course at a Friends of the Earth event of course, but in this case they mainly came from an angler worried about interference with fish breeding and not from renewable energy sceptics! The environmental impact assessment, which should assess the validity of this type of concern, started in January. The current plan is for the project to be producing electricity by the end of 2012, with actual works projected to take 4 months during 2012, of which the heavy works should take about one month.
